  • Program Overview

The UX/UI technical diploma at Madison College is a focused, one-year program designed for professionals looking to expand their skillset or transition into a career in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Whether you come from a background in marketing, communications, graphic design, or another creative or technical field, this program provides a practical entry point into the world of digital product design.

The curriculum emphasizes key UX/UI concepts such as user research, wireframing, interface design, prototyping, accessibility, and usability—with a strong focus on human-centered design principles. Unlike the associate degree, the technical diploma does not include web development, allowing students to concentrate fully on the design side of digital experiences.

Students gain hands-on experience through applied projects, developing a professional portfolio that demonstrates their understanding of UX/UI practices.

The program prepares graduates for roles such as UX Designer, UI Designer, Visual Designer, or Interaction Designer, and supports those looking to bring user-centered thinking into their current or future roles.

Whether you’re adding a new skillset to your resume or preparing for a career change, the UX/UI technical diploma offers a streamlined, relevant path into this dynamic and growing field.

    Choose Your Pathway

We offer three flexible pathways tailored to different career goals and experience levels:

Web and Interactive Design Certificate (1 Semester)

A fast-tracked 16-week certificate for designers looking to enhance web design and front-end development skills. This program is ideal for those with some design experience who want to gain web design expertise to expand their career opportunities.

    UX/UI Technical Diploma (1 Year)

Perfect for those looking to add UX/UI skills to their toolkit or make a career change. This one-year diploma focuses on user experience research, user interaction design, and digital experience design, equipping students with the practical knowledge needed for entry-level roles in UX/UI design.

User Experience and Interaction Design Associate Degree (2 Years)

The most comprehensive option, this two-year program combines the skills explored in the UX/UI Technical Diploma and the Web & Interactive Design Certificate. Designed for aspiring designers, the associate degree provides a deep dive into UX research, UI design, web development, and digital project management, preparing students for long-term success in the design and tech industries.

Career Opportunities in UX and Interaction Design

Graduates of the UX/ID program are ready to take on a variety of roles in the design and tech industries, including:

    • UX Designer – Improve user experience through research, testing and iterative design.
    • Interaction Designer – Focus on interactive elements to enhance digital engagement.
    • UI Designer – Create visually compelling and user-friendly interfaces.
    • Information Architect – Structure content for easy navigation and accessibility.
    • Web Designer – Design responsive, visually appealing websites.

With demand for UX and UI professionals at an all-time high, graduates have opportunities to work in tech startups, marketing agencies, corporate design teams, and freelance consulting.
